I’m writing this as I am getting ready to literally sit down for the next dozen hours or so to code a program for my Operating Systems class. Its due on Monday and it’s meant to be a 3-person group project, but because of my insanely dysfunctional group, I opted to split ways and do it myself, saving myself the stress. Knowing that it was assigned about a month ago, and it is meant for 3 people, you can imagine the amount of time/work I have to put in to get this thing done right.
In addition to that I have to finish a homework set for my Image Processing & Computer Vision “class.” I put class in quotes because, class is defined as
a group of students who are taught together
but teaching is the last thing the professor of this class is doing. He’s a nice guy and everything, and smart too, but he assumes way too much of the class. People I regard as some of the smartest people I’ve ever met are having major problems with the class. There’s apparently even a petition being sent around to the students to sign, which will notify the head of the CSE department about the professor’s lacking abilities. In addition to all that, even if the professor was amazing, we wouldnt be able to understand a thing he was saying.
Take a look at this screenshot of the contacts list for that class, which includes the professor and the TA’s.
Not a single person that speaks english as their first language on the list. Now my parents’ first language isn’t english, so I take no issue with instructors who don’t speak english as their first language, but in an American university, there has to be at least one point of contact within a class that can communicate with you effectively. Not the case in this course. It’s really unfortunate too, because this was my most-anticipated class of the semester.
So back to the point, the homework set is difficult without these problems; with them its on a whole other level. Which means more time spent doing work, which means less time working on music.
So, finally, back to the real main point of this post, the release of YOS will be delayed until my birthday, and the video for it will be released some time after that. I tried real hard to get YOS done by today, but there was a few mixing things that just weren’t perfect yet (bass is a bitch to mix in hiphop) so I could not, with a good conscience release it today.
So for the few people that were anticipating it being released today I’m sorry, and if you ever let me know who you are, I’ll personally give you a free copy of the song when its done. In the mean-time, here’s a little teaser in the form of a still from the video:
Now, time to learn c++ and build a web server.
